The Narragansett Bay Estuary Program (NBEP) has always emphasized
the linkage between good science-based information and the recommended
management options that evolve for use in various management plans
used by state agencies. To ensure informed decision-making, it is
critical that environmental managers have accurate up-to-date summaries
concerning the various components of the Narragansett Bay ecosystem
and its watershed.
Between 1984 and 1992, over 100 studies of the physical conditions
and natural resources in Narragansett Bay and its watershed were
developed. The results of these concentrated studies are available
in PDF files on our publications page.
We continue to support linkages to the latest scientific information
with our efforts to protect and restore the Bay. We now concentrate
our science efforts on areas where we can fill data gaps or where
science information is incomplete, as well as to summarize any recent
work by scientists on critical issues that affect the Bay and its
ecosystem.
