The 2015 Watershed Counts report highlights challenges and improvements in the urban environments of the Narragansett Bay Watershed. As the health of Narragansett Bay and its watershed as a whole continues to improve, major challenges remain in the urban areas. There are several major cities along the Narragansett Bay in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts have bustling economies, rich history and science views of the bay and watershed. However, having development so close to the natural environment can lead to water quality impairment from stormwater runoff. The various case studies in the report illustrate some of the challenges and efforts to solve urban water quality problems throughout the watershed. Download the report here.
