State of Narragansett Bay & Its Watershed

The 2017 State of Narragansett Bay and Its Watershed technical report is now available.

The Narragansett Bay Estuary Program brought together more than 50 practitioners from universities, organizations, and agencies in a bi-state effort by Massachusetts and Rhode Island to collaborate on the 2017 State of Narragansett Bay and Its Watershed technical report. This report presents and tracks 24 indicators in order to:

  • evaluate key stressors to Narragansett Bay and its watershed;
  • assess the chemical, physical, and biological conditions,
  • describe past and recent trends;
  • look ahead to potential future changes; and
  • identify data and research essential to advancing our understanding of these changes.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 23rd, the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program will release a much-abbreviated summary of the 2017 State of Narragansett Bay and Its Watershed technical report and will host one of three workshops, the first focused on indicators within Narragansett Bay. Two additional workshops will be held in November and December focusing on the Blackstone River Basin and the Taunton River Basin. More information concerning these three workshops will be forthcoming.

The Narragansett Bay Estuary Program and its many partners in the completion of this technical report and its complementary summary would appreciate your assistance in widening the circle of those to be made aware of the events to come. Please email us at info@nbep.org if you are interested in receiving updates on one or more of the workshops.
